Yanara appoints Gamuda to deliver one of Australia’s flagship clean energy projects
Yanara’s Mortlake Energy Hub is among Victoria’s most significant clean-energy investments, integrating solar and battery storage to deliver dispatchable renewable power for approximately 200,000 homes each year.
Yanara has appointed Gamuda as its project delivery partner for the landmark Mortlake Energy Hub — an integrated hybrid renewable energy project approved for construction in southwest Victoria.
The Mortlake Energy Hub represents one of the region’s most significant clean energy investments, combining a 450-megawatt (MW) solar farm with a 600 MW / 2400 MWh battery energy storage system. Once operational, the energy hub will power about 200,000 homes annually,1 supporting Victoria’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy network.
The project will be developed on a 1060-hectare site and connect to the existing Mortlake Terminal Station via a new substation. It will store renewable energy and dispatch it during periods of high demand without requiring any new overhead transmission lines, enhancing electricity reliability for Victorians.
Gamuda will lead the project design through to completion, securing council approvals for public roads and delivering on the project’s comprehensive management plans. It will also drive the procurement process for critical equipment and works packages.
During construction, the Mortlake Energy Hub will generate around 200 jobs, driving regional employment while delivering wide-ranging economic and social benefits for the community.
Yanara CEO, Jerome Ortiz, said: “Yanara’s appointment of Gamuda in Australia marks a major step forward in bringing one of Victoria’s most innovative renewable projects to life. The Mortlake Energy Hub demonstrates our data-driven approach to development, commitment to high-value sustainability, strong local benefits and the delivery of world-class clean energy infrastructure that makes dispatchable clean power a reality.
“We look forward to a highly collaborative partnership with Gamuda, which is known for its proven track record of delivering complex projects. Together, we will deliver this landmark project for the people of Victoria.”
Gamuda CEO, Ewan Yee, said: “We’re excited to be working with Yanara on this significant project and to bring our global experience to the table. Together, we’re committed to delivering real community benefits while helping Victoria achieve its 65 per cent renewable energy target by 2030. Mortlake is Gamuda’s latest Australian renewable energy project in its 2GW portfolio.
