Gamuda Berhad Wins 2021 International Project of the Year

25 Nov 2021 | Gamuda Australia
Geotechnical Director, Dr. Ooi Lean Hock, Geotechnical Manager, Dr. Boon Chia Weng with one of the judges, Jonathan Robert Arthur Gammon, Non-Executive Director and Advisor to Geotechnical Observations Limited (GeO).

Gamuda’s global expertise has been showcased at the Ground Engineering Awards 2021 in London, with the MRT Putrajaya Line recognised as the International Project of the Year.

The event attracts industry leaders from around the world to celebrate the achievements of projects, people and businesses across geotechnical engineering. Esteemed finalists for International Project of the Year 2021 included Singapore’s highest building, the Guoco Tower, and the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade project in Australia.

Our work on the MRT Putrajaya Line highlights Gamuda’s extensive experience managing all phases of project delivery – from engineering through to procurement, construction and commissioning. A number of our team are bringing their expertise and experience on KVMRT to Gamuda Australia’s major transport infrastructure tenders.

The award recognised the delivery capabilities on such a large scale project, innovative design solutions which overcame the complex geotechnical challenges, and our unique ‘new normal’ ecosystem for managing Covid-19 risk on the project. This ecosystem enabled us to deliver the tunnelling works on schedule in contrast to other infrastructure projects around the world, which have faced significant delays due to COVID-19 disruptions.

Other notable highlights included our award-winning Autonomous TBM, our exemplary safety and health outcomes and our extensive use of digital engineering and BIM technologies integrated throughout project delivery.

Congratulations to the project team and all involved in our success!
